Ravinia wanted to make something and I was in the throes of dinner. So I was vetoing most of what she wanted to make, but jello? Yes!
She did it all by herself, reading the label, measuring the water, heating it in the microwave, mixing, finding containers, even decided to use ice cube trays. That I didn’t realize until she asked, “Mom, can you freeze jello?”
“Hm, I don’t see why not.”
We ate dinner, sat a bit, and she remembered the jello later. It was so lovely. The smaller containers had set, and the ice cubes (trays from IKEA in cute shapes) punched out nicely…or not.
I got to thinking, sometimes creativity needs less oversight, now that I can trust her to read, to follow directions to the tee…
